Aagh Naneh is one of the ballads of
Mazandaran Province. It is cited in different narrations. Some believe that the ballad of
Aagh Naneh is the story of a man who fell in love with
Aagh Naneh, the daughter of a rich man, but he could not ask for marrying him because he was not single.
Then he deceived the girl and took her to his friend’s home in Shahi, the then name of Ghaemshahr city, and spent several days together. The relatives of the girl look for her and get her back into her village and make her marry another man.
And the ballad of
Aagh Naneh is the sayings of that man after losing his love. However, some believe that
Aagh Naneh is the same “grandmother” who leads the family at the absence of parents, and this ballad describes her conditions in the family (
Aagh Naneh means the mother of father).
