Karun River is the biggest river in country which Shahid Abbas Poor dam, at the distance of 55 km of north of Soleiman mosque, is constructed on this. Shahid Abbas Poor dam or Karun 1 is one of the biggest dams of Iran.
It is a concrete and two-arch dam and it is built to produce hydroelectric power, provide drink water, agriculture and to control flood. Powerhouse of this dam has 8 sections which are 250 megawatts and also its turbine is Francis.
This dam is one the primitive dams which were constructed in Iran and Middle East.
