Their Language (called Luri or Lurish Language ) is closely related to Persian, and there are two distinct dialects of this Language. "Lur-e-Bozourg" (Greater Lur), which is spoken by the Bakhtiaris, and "Lur-e-Kuchik" (Lesser Lur), spoken by the Lurs themselves.
People in Borujerd speak in Borujerdi Dialect, a local Lori Persian Dialect which is extracted from Luri.
Northwest of Lorestan Province is dominated by Laki speakers.
Professor Richard N. Frye wrote that "the Lurs and their dialects are closely related to the Persians of Fars province, and naturally belong to the southwestern branch of the Iranian peoples...".

The Borujerdi Dialect is a local Dialect spoken in Borujerd city and its surrounding areas in the province of Lorestan in Iran.

Borujerdi Dialect is spoken in Borujerd City and more than 200 villages around it. People of Malayer, Doorod, Arak, Toyserkan and Kangavar have a very similar accent to Borujerdi and their Language can be considered same as Borujerdi Dialect of Luri.
It is estimated that between 0.8 to 1 million people in provinces of Loristan, Markazi, Hamadan and Kermanshah speak in Borujerdi Dialect with minor differences in their accents.

*Laki is a Northwestern Iranian Language. Although it is usually grouped with Southern Kurdish dialects, Ethnologue classifies it as a fourth subgroup of Kurdish.
Ethnologue has cited its lexical similarity with Luri as 78%, as 70% with Western Persian, and as 69% with Northern Luri.
Laki Language is spoken in the central Zagros region of Iran (provinces of Lorestan, Ilam, Kermanshah, Hamedan, Qazvin, khuzestan) and in small parts of Iraq by the Lak people.
